Punta Cana Dominican Republic

Punta Cana is a town belonging to the Juanillo section, located in the east of the Dominican Republic, in the province of La Altagracia and in this town there are several hotel complexes, the Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), the country’s main airport, located about 30 km inland, on the highway that leads from Higüey to La Romana. This airport receives 64% of all flights arriving in the country, which is why it receives more passengers than the Las Américas International Airport, located in Santo Domingo, the country’s capital. Administratively, Punta Cana is part of the municipal district of Verón Punta Cana belonging to the municipality of Higüey.

Geography

The Punta Cana area begins to the north with Arena Gorda Beach, then followed by the famous Bávaro Beach, Uvero Alto Beach, Lavacama Beach, Macao Beach and El Cortecito Beach. When the return from the point begins, there are the beaches of Cabeza de Toro, Cabo Engaño, Punta Cana and Juanillo. The coastline of the Punta Cana area stretches 95 km of coastline. The longest part of the beach is that of Bávaro, considered by the government of the Dominican Republic as a national treasure for the richness of its flora and fauna and for the natural beauties that are appreciated there. The beaches are of fine white sand, and the Caribbean Sea of a soft greenish blue color, without reaching the turquoise of the Caribbean beaches located further south. The sea generally presents waves and the beach sinks very quickly into the sea. The water is always clear and algae abound in some areas. The postal code of the Punta Cana region is 23002.

Climate

The climate is constant, with average temperatures of 26 ° C, the temperature range being about twelve degrees, from 20 ° C in winter to a maximum of 32 ° C between April and November.
