Bayahibe Dominican Republic

The first time that Europeans visited the Bayahibe area was between September 14th and 15th, 1494. Christopher Columbus, who had come from exploring the islands of Cuba and Jamaica.

It was founded in 1874 by Juan Brito a Puerto Rican citizen.

The picturesque fishing village of Bayahibe is an attraction in its own right, boasting multiple beaches along its coastline, including Playa Dominicus, certified as a Blue Flag, and several more pristine white diamond beaches on the Catalina and Saona Islands.

The town of Bayahibe retains its Dominican flavor, from its local restaurants and bars to its street craft stalls and the fishermen who bring fish every day. Apart from its coastal life, the streets of Bayahíbe have a lot of history and architecture, with pastel-colored wooden houses, iconic churches and Taíno caves full of mystery and springs within the Cotubanamá National Park.
